Hi, I was born yesterday and lack any knowledge of the 1980's. Who are all those photos on the home page?

Judge Wapner, the OG television judge. The People's Court was the first "reality" courtroom, starting in 1981, with real plaintiffs and defendants squabbling over small claims cases. Wapner, previously a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge and president of the California Judges Association, was cranky and usually seemed annoyed just to be there. This photo is likely the most he smiled during his 12-year run. He was also, famously, a must-watch of Rain Man's Raymond Babbitt (Dustin Hoffman). Judge Joseph Wapner, who was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his World War II service (in between college and law school) passed away in 2017 at the age of 97.

"Brad Hamilton" in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Senior year, gets fired from his assistant-manager job for calling a customer an asshole and everything goes downhill from there. Thinks about Phoebe Cates. A lot. "Detective Billy Rosewood" in all 3 Beverly Hills Cop movies. Dude had one job, to drive Eddie Murphy out of Beverly Hills, and couldn't even do that. Fell for the "banana in the tailpipe." Reinhold was actually nominated for an Emmy for a guest spot on Seinfeld. Who knew?

Judge Judy Sheindlin has presided over Judge Judy, the highgest-rated show on daytime television, with about 9 to 10 million daily viewers, since 1996. She has written 7 books, the first two of which are titled Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining and Beauty Fades, Dumb Is Forever. Forbes reported that Judge Judy earns a salary of $47 million per year. Interestingly, she and Judge Wapner had a long-running feud, with Wapner stating "she is a disgrace to the profession."

Judge Chamberlain Haller was brilliantly portrayed by Fred Gwynne in the film My Cousin Vinny (1992). Haller argued with Joe Pesci's character Vincent Gambini for the most of the film, including the iconic line "what is a 'yute'?". Gwynne had starred in the TV series The Munsters as Herman Munster but found himself typecast after the show ended in 1966, unable to find much television or film work. My Cousin Vinny was Gwynne's most memorable post-Munsters role, and also his last. Fred Gwynne died in 1993.

What needs to be said? Caddyshack. Ted Knight as Judge Smails. Plus Chevy Chase. Bill Murray. Rodney Dangerfield. The Dalai Lama. A Baby Ruth. Nnnnnnnnoonan! If you don't know (c'mon, how could you not know!), now you know.

Judge Harry Stone presided over Night Court, a sitcom from 1984 to 1992. Night Court wasn't very funny and mostly rode the coattails of being on after The Cosby Show and Cheers, but the bailiff was kind of cool, John Laroquette's character was constantly trying to get laid, and Markie Post was hot. Back in the 80's you couldn't just whip out YouTube or Netflix so you were stuck with whatever was on. Hell, lots of TVs didn't even have a remote control yet. Harry Anderson, the actor and magician who played Judge Stone, died in 2018.
